Welcome to the Diocese of Townsville! Are you ready to join a team where you’ll help create a welcoming, supportive environment; where every learner feels they belong; where you’ll be guided by Catholic values and embrace the school’s mission, and where you’ll prioritise student safety and wellbeing? Are you an enthusiastic, reliable caring teacher or school officer (teacher’s aide)?
If you answered YES!, Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is inviting you to register for supply opportunities across our Primary and Secondary schools in 2026.
In these roles you’ll be filling short term vacancies in our Primary and Secondary schools located around Townsville and regional areas. (And if you do accept an invitation for supply teaching in our regional schools; accommodation, meals and travel expenses are covered).
Guided by Catholic values, you’ll embrace the school’s mission, prioritise student safety and wellbeing, and help create a welcoming, supportive environment where every learner feels they belong. Whether you're a teacher or a school officer supporting students in Townsville (or visiting our beautiful regional communities), you’ll be making a meaningful difference every day by building strong connections with patience, empathy & understanding. You’ll also play a key role in creating the best possible learning, engaging and inclusive experiences.
As a teacher - in your classroom, you’ll spark curiosity and a love of learning by delivering engaging lessons, setting clear expectations, and continually reflecting on your practice to keep improving. You’ll use a range of tools to understand each student’s progress, celebrate their growth, and give meaningful feedback that helps the students thrive.
Townsville Catholic Education has standards of conduct for workers to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children, and our commitment to these standards requires that we conduct Working with Children checks and background referencing for all staff. This organisation is fully committed to child safety and has a zero tolerance to abuse of children or adults-at-risk.
Successful Teacher candidates will require proof of Professional Registration with Queensland College of Teachers, whilst successful School Officer candidates will require a paid Blue Card (before commencement) as per the “No Card, No Start” policy development by Queensland Government.
Why Join Us : Townsville Catholic Education provides a supportive, flexible working environment where care for the individual is an important part of our ethos. We employ motivated people who want to work together to produce excellent outcomes for our students. Our staff are recognised as being central to achieving our mission.
