Make a lasting difference in student’s lives!

Help shape positive learning, wellbeing and life outcomes for students by joining our dedicated school community as a Guidance Counsellor/Psychologist.

In this 12 month fixed term role, you’ll bring your professional expertise, leadership and compassionate support to foster the social, emotional and educational wellbeing of students. You’ll work collaboratively with staff, families and the wider community to design and deliver programs that build resilience, confidence and personal growth.

Whether you’re a teacher with postgraduate qualifications in guidance and counselling, or a psychologist eligible for registration with AHPRA, you’ll bring the professional expertise needed to support student wellbeing and growth. Your background will enable you to provide informed, evidence-based guidance that helps students feel safe, supported and understood.

Guided by Catholic values, you’ll embrace the school’s mission, prioritise student safety and wellbeing, and help create a welcoming, supportive environment where every learner feels they belong. Working across preventative, early intervention and responsive approaches, you’ll play a vital part in empowering students to thrive - both at school and beyond. You’ll also enjoy the rhythm of the school year, with regular breaks during school holidays that support your own wellbeing while you support others.

Based in Townsville and supporting Marian Catholic School (Currajong), this role includes weekly travel to St Francis Catholic School in Ayr, including an overnight stay in Ayr. You’ll have access to a work vehicle to support all work-related travel.

Townsville Catholic Education has standards of conduct for workers to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children. Our commitment to these standards requires that we conduct working with children checks and background referencing for all staff.
