Make a meaningful impact on student learning and participation!

As an Occupational Therapist with Townsville Catholic Education, you’ll make a genuine difference - creating school environments where every student can engage, learn and thrive.

In this meaningful role, you’ll use your professional expertise and compassionate approach to enhance access, participation and wellbeing for students with disability. Working collaboratively with teachers, school leaders, families and the wider community, you’ll design and deliver evidence-based assessment, planning and intervention that removes barriers to learning and builds confidence and independence in every student.

You’ll also help strengthen teacher capability through coaching, observation and feedback - embedding inclusive practices that lift learning outcomes across our schools. Guided by Catholic values, you’ll embrace each school’s mission and contribute to a culture of care, collaboration and respect.

Some travel will be required and facilitated by Townsville Catholic Education to support schools across our Diocese—from those in and around Townsville to more remote communities including Mount Isa, Proserpine and Palm Island. This variety offers a unique opportunity to connect with diverse school communities and make a lasting impact across Far North Queensland.

To succeed in this role, you’ll hold a tertiary qualification in Occupational Therapy and current registration (or eligibility) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). You’ll bring strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, along with experience supporting children and young people with diverse learning needs. A current Driver’s Licence and the ability to travel within the Diocese are also required.

Townsville Catholic Education has standards of conduct for workers to maintain a safe and healthy environment for children. Our commitment to these standards requires that we conduct working with children checks and background referencing for all staff. The organisation is fully committed to child safety and has a zero tolerance to abuse of children or adults-at-risk.
