About the role
Townsville Catholic Education (TCE) is currently seeking a experienced People and Safety Business Partner (Performance and Talent) to support the organisation's ongoing efforts to improve capability by providing operational case management, performance and employee development services and support. This is a Full Time, Permanent position commencing 23 June 2025.
The Performance and Talent Business Partner is a first contact point for principals and system leaders and is responsible for partnering with the directorates and other stakeholders to deliver industrial and best practice solutions and effective outcomes for TCE.
Reporting directly to the Senior People and Safety Business Partner, you will use your experience and expertise to educate, guide, and influence our internal and external stakeholders.
Key Accountabilities
- First point of contact for performance and discipline, triaging incoming cases and escalating to the Senior People and Safety Business Partner - Performance and Talent as appropriate
- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide advice on industrial instruments, including resolving IR queries relating to drive high performance and manage conduct and discipline matters
- Undertake difficult discussions with employees and senior managers with confidence.
- Provide hands-on, concise, current and accurate advice and interpretation of industrial instruments and other legislation to TCE employees and stakeholders as required
About you
- Demonstrated ability to assist in the resolution of performance and conduct issues, disputes, grievances, conduct and other industrial matters (end to end)
- Experience in case management and investigation including assisting in the preparation and attendance at unfair dismissal and general protections conciliations
- Experience in providing advice and assisting in matters relating to enterprise agreements and/or industrial instruments
Mandatory Criteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
- Tertiary qualifications in HR/IR/ER/Law or other similar disciplines. Before the appointment, credentialing documentation must be provided and verified.
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville and to undertake occasional ad-hoc domestic travel as required
Desirable Criteria
- 5+ years’ experience working in HR/IR/ER will be highly regarded.
