Salary Range: $75,979 - $79,673 per annum pending experience (part time is pro rata)

Tenure: Full Time and Part Time, Permanent
Commencing Date: As soon as practicable
Closing Date: Monday, 2 June 2025 unless filled prior

About the role

Townsville Catholic Education Office is currently seeking two experienced and dedicated Payroll Officers'. These roles are full time, permanent (38 hours per week - 1 FTE) and part time, permanent (19 hours per week - 0.5FTE) commencing as soon as practicable.

The Payroll Officer will work closely with the Payroll Coordinator to focus on payroll improvement initiatives including implementation of supporting process documentation, instructions, and communication, as required. The role will further support the efficient and effective fortnightly payroll processes for all TCE staff.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll related tasks within a large multi-disciplinary organisation adhering to multiple industrial instruments
  • Demonstrated ability to apply the provisions of awards, legislation, policy and procedure
  • Proven experience in identifying and implementing solutions to payroll problems
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and dealing with sensitive information and adhere to the Australian Privacy Principles.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Awards, Government Legislation and the ability to apply to interpret and provide industrial related payroll advice
  • Advanced computer skills and experience with the ability to provide spreadsheets, ad hoc reports and statistical and data analysis
  • The ability to be analytical and methodical in your approach to all aspects of the role
  • Ability to develop rapport with and influence stakeholders in schools and across the office

Mandatory Criteria

  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
  • Certificate IV level qualification or higher or equivalent relevant experience and / or education / training
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with Aurion will be highly regarded
