Per Hourly Range: $35.93 to $37.06 per hour pending experience

About the role
Mary Help of Christians Catholic College is seeking dedicated Instrumental Music Tutors with the ability to teach in one or more of the following areas:

Piano

Guitar

Woodwind
These roles are fixed-term, term-time contract positions completing 2.0 hours per week and will commence from the week beginning 19th May, 2025 (Week 5, Term 2, 2025) for the remainder of the 2025 school year. There is a significant opportunity to build student engagement and increase teaching hours in the instrumental program as the college grows.
Instrumental Music Tutors work under general supervision of the Middle Leader - Co-Curricular Design and Delivery to provide individual and small group instrumental music tuition to students.
Key Accountabilities
The key accountabilities are as follows but not limited to, and may vary based on classroom and students' support needs.
- Under the general direction of the Middle Leader - Co-Curricular Design is accountable for duties including:

- providing a program of study for individual students or group of students;
- setting priorities based on relevant syllabus, student goals and skill level;
- monitoring progress of students;
- reporting to parents;
- preparing students for external exams;
- preparing students for individual and small group performances.
- Is responsible for monitoring student attendance and progress and planning for the achievement of student outcomes.
- Is responsible for identifying emerging issues to identify and mitigate risks which may impact on student progress and achievement.
- Is responsible for the reporting of student progress and providing advice to parents and the Middle Leader - Co-Curricular Design.
Typical Duties:
- Providing instrumental music tuition to individual or small groups of students.
- Preparing students for external exams (eg AMEB, Trinity College of London).
- Prepare students for performances, including Eisteddfod, concerts, liturgies, school events as required.
- Maintaining accurate attendance records and liaising with parents in relation to absences.
- Develop student timetables and schedules.
- Maintain lesson plans and records of student progress and provide written reports to parents.
- Instructing students in, and monitoring the care and maintenance of their instruments and music facilities.
- Collaborate with other staff and Middle Leader - Co-Curricular Design to promote the music program within the school and externally.
Mandatory Criteria
- Diploma or degree qualification with appropriate experience or other relevant qualifications and experience which are acceptable to the employer.
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
Desirable Criteria
