About the role
Townsville Catholic Education is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Project Officer - Boarding School Funding. This role if a Full Time, Fixed Term role commencing 5 May 2025 to 31 December 2026.
The Project Manager – Boarding School Funding is responsible for overseeing, managing, and optimizing funding initiatives related to Townsville Catholic Education boarding schools. This includes securing government and private funding, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, managing budgets and coordinating with key stakeholders to support the sustainability and growth of boarding facilities.
The Project Officer – Emerging Leaders Incentive Scheme works collaboratively with the targeted Catholic boarding schools and TCE’s First Nations Education Services team to support key strategies for improving student outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
The role is one of partnership with the leadership of TCE and the community of principals in the integration and alignment of systemic and school community perspectives and priorities.
Key Accountabilities
Funding Strategy & Grant Management
- Identify and secure funding opportunities (government grants, private donors, scholarships, sponsorships).
- Develop funding proposals and grant applications in alignment with school objectives.
- Maintain relationships with funding bodies and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
- Track funding cycles and deadlines, ensuring timely submissions and renewals.
Financial Planning & Budget Management
- Develop and manage budgets related to boarding school operations and funding initiatives.
- Monitor expenditure and financial reporting to ensure alignment with funding guidelines.
- Provide financial analysis and reports to stakeholders, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Work closely with finance teams to ensure accurate allocation of funds.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting
- Collaborate with school leadership, finance teams, and external funding agencies.
- Communicate funding needs and project progress to donors, trustees, and government bodies.
- Prepare reports on funding impact, financial performance, and compliance requirements.
- Organize meetings and presentations with stakeholders to advocate for funding support.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements related to funding.
- Develop policies and procedures for effective fund utilization and accountability.
- Conduct risk assessments related to financial sustainability and funding sources.
Project Coordination & Implementation
- Oversee the implementation of funded projects to ensure they meet agreed outcomes.
- Coordinate with school staff and service providers to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Monitor the impact of funding on student welfare and boarding facilities.
Mandatory Criteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government
- Tertiary Qualification in a relevant field
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
