Salary Range: $84,077 - $123,101 per annum pending experience

About the role

Mary Help of Christians Catholic College, Shaw is seeking a dedicated and experienced First Nations Education Teacher for a permanent, full-time position commencing 20 January 2025.

The position will consist of the following teaching load, and teaching areas will be negotiated pending the successful applicant's skills and experience.

  • First Nations Education Teacher 0.4 (12 hours per week)

  • Secondary Teacher 0.6 (18 hours per week)

The role of the First Nations Education Teacher is to assist the Principal and Leadership Team in the areas of Curriculum, Pastoral Care and Community Engagement. The First Nations Education Teacher works cooperatively and in collaboration with school leadership personnel, teachers, First Nations Education Workers, student support services team members and Parents/Carers to ensure our First Nations students are supported to engage purposefully in learning. The role holder will work to develop the capability within the college to cater to the diversity of these learners within the school population. The First Nations Education Teacher will work proactively to embed First Nation Education Initiatives within the College setting.

Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other

  • Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner 

Desirable Criteria

  • Significant experience in working with First Nations students.
  • Experienced classroom teacher with specialised knowledge of First Nations students.
