Do you enjoy hands-on work, and like the idea of being outdoors, staying active, and contributing to your community? Townsville Catholic Education is looking to create a pool of casual/ relief Groundspersons in both Townsville and Ingham.
This is ideal for those who are willing to assist a variety of schools within the Townsville or Ingham regions and willing to pick up jobs as needed- whether thats every week or every now and then.
About the Role
As a relief Groundsperson, you’ll step in to help when our regular staff are away – keeping our school grounds safe, tidy and welcoming. You'll work independently or as part of a small team, under the direction of the school Principal.
What You’ll Be Doing
Day-to-day tasks can vary, but typically include:

Mowing lawns, whipper snipping, fertilising, and weeding

Watering and maintaining gardens and irrigation systems

General upkeep of outdoor areas and cleaning of equipment
- Light cleaning/ tidying of outdoor spaces and emptying bins
-
Basic repairs (e.g. fixing leaking taps, replacing washers, small paint jobs)

Helping set up for events like sports carnivals or school assemblies
-
Assisting with light deliveries or maintenance tasks around the school
Who We’re Looking For
We’d love to hear from you if you:

Are reliable, practical, and like working outdoors

Have a basic level of fitness for physical tasks

Can work safely and independently

Are happy to be called upon for casual or ad hoc work across the region at a variety of local schools
Requirements

Paid Working With Children Blue Card (or willing to get one)

Driver’s licence
-
Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (paid by TCE)
-
Complete mandatory safety training (online)

Australian working rights
Bonus (but not essential): Any trade or handyman qualifications or experience in garden/property maintenance.
